Congrats to GlacierGlider & ICULAFN and Babybackpackers for co FTF. GlacierGlider has once again found and logged one of my caches before I was aware it had been published. Way to Go!!

This cache is located at fire station 62 in Marysville. The Marysville Fire district is, like many fire districts, a combination of many smaller districts that have joined forces to conserve both resources and finances. The Marysville Fire District is a combination of The City of Marysville, Snohomish County Fire District 12 (north Marysville including Lakewood and the southern half of Smoky Point) and Snohomish County Fire District 20. (Lake Goodwin and surrounding area)
Although Marysville Fire District works hand in hand with the City of Marysville it is not run by the city and is therefore its own entity. The Fire District covers a large area stretching from the west shores of Lake Goodwin to Highway 9 and the Sunnyside area in the East. The northern border is Smokey Point with a jog that includes Lakewood and to the south is Union Slough. Marysville Fire District responded to approximately 11,000 calls in 2010. Around 84% of these calls were EMS related 10% were fires and 6% were other types of responses including rescue and Hazardous Materials.
This fire station was built in 2001 to accommodate the growing need for more personnel. The building to the east of the cache location served as the fire station until the current station was built and now serves as the maintenance shop for the fire district. Current staffing levels at this station are six, five firefighters and one Battalion Chief.

Apparatus housed at Firehouse 62 include.
• Ladder 62, a 2006 Emergency One Ladder truck. Powered by a 500 Horsepower 60 Series Detroit Diesel engine L-62 is capable of pumping 1750 gallons of water per minute and has a vertical reach of 95 feet. The firefighters responding on this apparatus are highly trained in both firefighting and rescue operation.
• Aid 62, a 2006 Horton Ambulance body on an International 4400 series chassis. One of the busiest units in the Marysville Fire District A-62 responded to 2,460 incidents last year. If you do the math that is averages around 7 calls per day! Two firefighter/EMT’s respond on this unit and are trained not only in medical services but as firefighters as well.
• Battalion 61, a 2001 Ford Expedition. Battalion 61 responds to any major incident in the fire district and manages personnel and resources on the scene.
• Squad 61, a 1989 Ford Step van with trailer. Squad 61 contains equipment for confined space and technical rescue operations.
The cache is located on fire district property, I have been granted permission to place this cache by the fire chief but not all personnel are aware of it. Please use some stealth and be considerate of the landscaping. Happy Hunting!
