Ambergate School Site is the last in our series of Chalkies Challenges. This is the school that Dad was educated at while he was growing up here in his youth, in the 1930's. There is a lot of local history around and it is interesting to see, there is a memorial plaque in the grounds with the family names on, the cache is not far from it.
The school has had a variety of uses over the years, from a school, to a community hall, where dances were held. It has recently been the host to the Riffle Club, but they have now moved and left the building and grounds. The council has signs on the buildings not to enter, and hopefully they will renovate this building like at Kaloorup.
As it was Dad who was educated here, the cache, an ammo tin, well it was an ammo tin in 2011 when it was placed here, until someone else decided to claim it 😢
It was full of toys for the boys, trains, planes and automobiles, it would be great if this could be kept as a 'Boy's Toys' cache.
