Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the fantastic Wadi Rum dessert in Jordan.
This location has been used for hundreds or even thousand of years
as a resting place for the caravans. The cliffs provide shade and
the bedouins have made small gameboards into the rock to play
"dessert chess" during the brake.

During our first visit to Jordan in January 2011 we went to explore the Wadi Rum dessert.

Before we left home I wrote some emails with the guide's European partner in order to make sure we could go geocaching. I got the impression that everything was fine, and that the guide Saleh understood what we wanted. I showed him the GPS and he said with a big smile: " Ah! the game" !

At the end of our first day we were finally going to find "the game" I felt so sure that Saleh had been here many times before with other geocachers. But he wanted to show me something else. An ancient game in the rocks. Smal recesses made into the rocks and small white and black stones used as game pieces. That was "the game". Even though it was a nice thing to see, I was a little disappointed because I wanted so much to log a Jordanian geocache. Saleh could easily spot my disapointment and wanted me to explain, what I was really looking for. Then I started to tell him about geocaching! You know how dificult it can be to explain the idea of geocaching to a muggler. And even if Saleh is speaking pretty good english we had a cultural barrier to exceed!

But he understood the point and asked me: "why not make one here"?
I looked for an empty cachecontainer in my luggage and found a Petling. And then we went to look for an appropriate place. Now it's up to you to find out where we placed it! I will email a FFC to you on request.

You will have to pay an entrance fee to get into the park. We paid 10 Dinars for the whole family. It is not possible to reach this cache in an ordinary car.

Small note on cache maintenance: There is a local cache guardian who will assist.
