This is a micro cache hidden along a busy roadway on generally level terrain.
Fidalgo Island has a very interesting geologic history. Basically, it is an ophiolite, ancient ocean crust. overlain be glacial deposits. There are numerous types of glacial deposits such as moraines, not in this area, till, glacial marine drift and outwash. The cut slope near the cache shows and outcrop of outwash. This is stratified (layered) sediment consisting of mainly sand, gravel, some cobbles and clay that was deposited by meltwater streams from a glacier. A much better exposure is in the gravel pit on the other side of the ridge. However, that exposure is on private property so we must make do with this one.
Parking is available for one car. This is a very busy road so watch your children and/or pets.
Please replace the container as found and let me know if there are any problems with the cache.
A BIT CONGRATS TO NOWORRYNOW ON THEIR SECOND FTF IN TWO DAYS.
