Don't worry, this cache isn't contagious!! I felt compelled to place a Streptococcus cache because it was this bacterium that caused me to miss the recent meet and greet.
The cache is currently a silver bison tube hanging at my head height on the small pine next to the large tree it was originally at the base of. Refer to 4/18/13 maintenance log for spoiler photos. There is a lot of signal bounce in the area. While here stroll a little further up the trail to Alan's Memorial.
Streptococcus is a genus of spherical Gram-positive bacteria. In addition to streptococcal pharyngitis, or strep throat, certain Streptococcus species are responsible for many cases of meningitis, bacterial pneumonia, endocarditis, erysipelas and necrotizing fasciitis (the 'flesh-eating' bacterial infections). However, many streptococcal species are non-pathogenic. Indeed, Streptococci are a necessary ingredient in Emmentaler ("Swiss") cheese....which by the way is excellent in cheese fondue!! Streptococci are also part of the normal flora of the mouth, skin, intestine, and upper respiratory tract of humans.
