Geocache Description:

35MM Film Cannister

State Route 145 is a 30-mile long route in the central part of the state. The southern terminus of the route is at the junction with U.S. Highway 31 and State Route 22 at Clanton. The northern terminus of the route is at the junction with Shelby County Road 61 south of Wilsonville.

State Route 145 is aligned on a two-lane route for its duration. It serves as a connector route between Clanton and Lay Lake, which lies along the border of Chilton County and Shelby County. After leaving Clanton, the route passes northwardly through rural areas of farm and timberland, and passes through no major cities or towns.

Unlike most state routes in Alabama, the northern terminus of SR-145 is at a junction with a county road. Shelby County Road 61 north of SR-145 serves as a continuation of the state route, leading towards Wilsonville, where the route junctions State Route 25.

As a road to place a series of caches on, it has merits. The first is that the road is not heavily traveled except during rush hours. The second is that it has plenty of pull off room available for stopping and getting caches.

Care should be used when pulling back onto the road surface. All of these caches are best accessed going from South to North on the Right Side of the road.
