[SV] Frihamnens första etapp öppnade 1919, och den var helt färdigbyggd 1926. Frihamnen fungerade som en internationell zon, där varor kunde lossas och lagras utan att de behövde förtullas förrän de lämnade hamnområdet. Bland annat medförde detta att Ford under en period efter andra världskriget monterade bilar här, för att kringgå importrestriktioner. I mitten av 1990-talet hade frihamnen tappat sin betydelse, i och med Sveriges inträde i EU, och frihamnsfunktionen upphörde då. Idag används hamnen för färje- och kryssningtrafik, samt containertrafik. Containerverksamheten är dock på väg att flyttas till Norvikudden norr om Nynäshamn. Cachen sitter i anslutning till en lite speciell byggnad där bilar har kontrollerats, möjligen av tullen.
[EN] The first stage of the free port opened in 1919, and it was completed in 1926. The free port served as an international zone, where goods were unloaded and stored without having to clear customs until they left the harbor area. Among other things, this led to Ford assembling cars here for a period after World War II, to circumvent import restrictions. In the mid-1990's, the free port lost its importance, with Sweden's entry into the EU, and that's when the port lost its free port function. Today, the port is used for ferries and cruise ships, and container traffic. Container operations, however, are about to be moved to Norvikudden north of Nynäshamn. The cache is located at a special building where cars have been checked, possibly by customs.
