The history and flavor of a community is reflected in the
architecture of its buildings. Many of the buildings in the
downtown core of Albany, incorporate swirls and flourishes, Greek
and Roman influences, and geometric patterns and shapes. This tour,
the second in a series of Albany tours and the first in my downtown
series, will take you up and down its core streets, identifying
these fascinating architectural designs. This is constructed as a
walking tour and can easily be done with its companion tour,
Albany Wall Gallery (GC2N19H). In fact, I would
recommend doing them together.
To complete this puzzle, you need to match the waypoints,
“a” through “o”, with the pictures below.
Each picture has a value to its left that you will use to complete
the coords for the final cache.
a - N44 38.209 W123 06.285 =
b - N44 38.177 W123 06.471 =
c - N44 38.237 W123 06.332 =
d - N44 38.236 W123 06.363 =
e - N44 38.227 W123 06.414 =
f - N44 38.199 W123 06.300 =
g - N44 38.122 W123 06.520 =
h - N44 38.211 W123 06.571 =
i - N44 38.270 W123 06.450 =
j - N44 38.210 W123 06.590 =
k - N44 38.232 W123 06.452 =
l - N44 38.192 W123 06.362 =
m - N44 38.176 W123 06.363 =
n - N44 38.183 W123 06.427 =
o - N44 38.172 W123 06.432 =
When you arrive at each of the waypoints, look around you and
you will discover downtown Albany AND the objects in the collage of
pictures. To find the objects, look UP, look DOWN, look BEHIND,
look ACROSS. Sometimes, you will need to look especially close.
The final coords are arrived at by adding the numbers together
in each set below. For example, “A” equals the sum of
“e” and “k,” “B” equals the sum
of “a” plus “g” plus “o,”
etc.
N44 38.ABC, where A=ek, B=ago, and C=bin
W123 06.DEF, where D=mhj, E=lf, and F=dc
Have fun with this cache and enjoy downtown Albany. I hope you
discover some things you hadn’t seen before. If you wish to
see more of Albany, do my
Albany Sculpture Tour (GC2K3PA).
