This is the second in my series of downtown Albany tours. The first
is
Albany Walk About (GC2N19F), and can be done in tandem
with this tour. In fact, I highly recommend doing them both at the
same time (that is, if you think you can keep the numbers straight
!!).
Albany has worked hard to retain much of its historic ambiance
and you will see that displayed in its homes and businesses,
especially in the downtown core. One of the things that has been a
fascination for me is the retention of some of the original
business names painted on the sides of the red brick buildings. As
you walk around the downtown business area, you will also see a
number of murals added in more recent times.
For this tour, I have tried to pick some of the less obvious
painted signs. Signs that you may not have seen as you’ve
driven the streets in the downtown area. Signs that become more
obvious if you’re walking and your focus is more on the sides
of the buildings.
As you walk around town, match the coords with the pictures and
then plug the associated picture value, shown to the left of the
picture, in the final format.
