This cache has been archived.

Oil Region Cachers: The members of the "Oil Region Cachers" want to thank everyone that attended the "GeoWoodstock Express" 667 people signed the logbook and most of them were on the train at least one way. Thanks everyone for being so timely getting on and off the train. Thanks also to the "Friends of the Railroad" for being our tour guides on the train and for the lunch and the park folks for the kayak lessons. It seems everyone had a great time. Maybe some day we will be able to try this again.

Happy caching everyone!!!

Geocache Description:

Come and ride the train "through the valley that changed the world"

**Big news the Oil Region Alliance and the local DCNR are now giving away one free Oil Creek State Park - Kennerdell Tract - Clear Creek State Forest trackable geocoin with each train ticket.

We would like to invite you all to come and ride the OC&T rails through the valley where Col. Edwin L. Drake drilled the world's first commercial oil well.

During your trip through the Oil Creek Valley you will see the great Pennsylvania woods where once stood hundreds of oil derricks, miles of oil pipelines and the great Oil Creek that was used for oil transportation along with supplying many a great meal of fish and waterfowl. All through the valley can still be seen relics of the great oil boom that sent the entire world on an oil frenzy that affects us to this day.

The event timing is as follows:
9:00 AM The Perry Street Station in Titusville will open
11:00 AM The adventure will begin as the train leaves the station
11:45 AM The train will arive at the Petroleum Centre Station where a short walk will take you to the Egbert picnic shelter and the log book
12:00 PM The logbook will be available for signing at the Egbert picnic shelter
2:00 PM We will once again board the OC&T train for the ride back to the Titusville station. The station closes at 5:00 PM

To reserve your seat on the train please use this link: GeoWoodstock IX

Lunch will also be offered by the Friends of the Rail Road (Details to follow)

Those who want to attend the event by reaching the pavilion in Oil Creek State Park without riding the train are welcome as well. Just be aware that the event will begin at noon when the trainload of passengers arrives from the Petroleum Centre Station.

The event is being cosponsored by the Oil Region Cachers and the GeoWoodstock 9 Committee.
