Geocache Description:

This cache has been set for the 'I LOVE GEOCACHING' event on 26th February 2011.

Barra castle is a picturesque castle which was built in the early 17th century by the Kings, who subsequently sold it to the nearby Setons of Meldrum (with whom they had an ongoing feud which lasted over a century!) The Setons, after altering the castle, sold it to the Ramsays, who eventually carried it by marriage to a branch of the Irvines of Barra, whos descendents only recently sold it.
Have a look at it here....

The cache is not right beside the main entrance to the castle, but in a layby nearby. There is a small track you can walk down from the layby which gives you a side view of the castle. Otherwise, you will see a frontal view from the car when passing.
There are strawberries for sale in summertime outside the castle entrance :)
The castle is private and not open to the public.

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE BUSINESS CARDS IN CACHES.
Please rehide well.
