A Quick C&D
Located close to GZ is the Mill Stone an establishment that has been closed for several years. You can see its namesake retired mill stones embedded in the walls on both sides of the building.
At one time, this building contained two apartments, a bar, a deli, and a small grocery store. There were also gas pumps out front. The grocery area at the Mill Stone was reopened a couple years ago but did not last long and then the bar was reopened, which also did not last long. Within the last year, the gas pumps, which had been dry for years, were removed and the holding tank was dug out of the ground.
The cache is not on Mill Stone property but close by. The cache is located just off Rt. 51 on a side road and there is nearby parking.
Be very careful in this area pulling into the area of the cache! I can remember hearing about numerous fatal car accidents between the Mill Stone and Mt. Tabor Church. I drive by here every morning on the way to work and have seen people speeding on Rt 51 do some of the stupidest things right here.
There are four big things which contribute to the accidents. One, people driving WAY, WAY too fast through here and don't pay attention. Two, the curve by Mt. Tabor Church is blind going both ways and is on a hill. Three, Brice Hollow Road meets Rt. 51 right on the blind curve next to the church. Heading west, it seems like cars just pop out of nowhere from behind the church. Heading east, people like to either not use a turn signal or wait until the last second before taking the turn onto Brice Hollow Rd. Finally four, Old Oldtown Rd. meets Rt 51 right next to the Mill Stone. Again, watch for people going both ways turning suddenly, often without a turn signal. Cachers going slow looking for the right turn would be prime targets here to get creamed!
