Getting to the Cache
The
Fencline Loop starts at the given parking waypoint, the Fenceline
carpark, which is a few minutes drive past the turn-offs to both
the picnic area and caretakers hut.
The
Fenceline Loop Walk is one of several short walks around the Otaki
Forks area. It is a 1.5 - 2 hour (3.9km) return trip
that passes through regenerating forest above the
campground and gives some good views of the Waiotauru
Valley.
It is
mostly well formed and signposted, but has some small creak
crossings and boggy spots so care should be taken after heavy
rain.
Combine
this cache with the nearby Valley View cache (which is up an adjoining
track to the main Fenceline Loop) and the Otaki Gorge Boiler cache, approx a
30-40 minute return trip up the Waiotauru Track, which begins at
the same point.

The cache
is a 200ml Sistema with a logbook, pencil and
pencil sharpener. The coordinates were recorded with an
accuracy of +/-6m but the hint should ensure a quick
find if you are having trouble.
