A cache placed by Mazimonkey – in Madiba drive. Mazimonkey shares Mandela’s birthday on 18th July. The previous cache was muggled so this replces it in a new location.
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, born 18 July 1918, served as President of South Africa from 1994 – 1999 and was the first South African president to be elected in a fully representative democratic election.
Mandela was imprisoned on Robben Island in 1964, and was the 466th prisoner to arrive that year. The prison administration's scheme of numbering prisoners was to follow the sequence number of the prisoner (466 in his case), with the last two digits of the year (64).
The number was imposed on him by the prison for over 25 years, until his release in 1990. "Prisoner 46664" continues to be used, as a reverential title for him by the Nelson Mandela Foundation and once a year there is a special day dedicated to serving other people – a legacy that Mandela leaves for Africa.
In South Africa, Mandela is often known as Madiba , an honorary title adopted by elders of Mandela’s clan.

We can imagine the smile on Madiba’s face when he could sit high up in this grand old tree and see the children playing on the one side, because he is passionate about children and the Soccer World Cup fan park on the other side, because he was instrumental in bringing the event to South Africa.
