Blast from the past Traditional Geocache
cyclechap: The boxes that I use for the cache keep going missing/ getting stolen and I am tired of replacing them, so, unhappily I will no longer be providing this cache.

The cache is near the edge of the old Dinorwig quarry. In its heyday this was the largest open cast quarry in the world. Blasting operations were carried out at published times and the quarrymen would seek cover in a blast shelter - the one here is well preserved.
The nearest parking, about 250 metres away from the cache is at N 53 7.660' - W 04 6.416' where there is a memorial to those who worked the quarry.
The cache is the usual plastic sandwich type box with a log and pencil and a selection of swaps.
More information about the quarry can be found at the slate museum in Llanberis and a visit is recommended - entrance is free and there are films, demonstrations and exhibits depicting the life of the quarry. There is also a childrens play area and a cafe.
