The challenge of this cache is not in the finding of it because it is very simply hidden but it is in one of the busiest, most popular spots in the Broads. The difficulty is to retrieve it without being spotted. I have given a very precise location in the hint so it can be located with eyes only and then retrieved and replaced with slight of hand.
The man to whom this cache is dedicated was a notable Horning boat builder at the beginning of the last century building Sir Earnest Martin's Thames Houseboat, the "La Rose", in about 1909 and on exhibition at the Royal Norfolk Show, the following year. Mr Powley also built one of the earliest Bermuda rigged yachts seen on the Broads, the 25ft half decker "Majestic"
Regarded as the prettiest village on the Broads, Horning was the location used for the filming of Arthur Ransome's "The Coot Club". There there is plenty of parking and public moorings on the staithe next to the village green where the cache is located. There is also public mooring on the opposite bank at Perci's island but you will need a dinghy to get across the river. Horning is home to the "Three Rivers Race" a 24 hour sailing endurance race which takes place every year the weekend after the Spring Bank Holiday. The Saturday is probably not the best time to look for this cache as the green is packed with spectators..
A simple magnetic micro containing a logbook only so PBYOP. A pen and a paperclip are basic equipment for all geocachers. Play the game. Sign the log or don't log it as found!
CONGRATULATIONS TO
