The SS Tararua was a passenger steamer that struck the reef off Waipapa Point in the Catlins on 29 April 1881, and sank the next day, in the worst civilian shipping disaster in New Zealand's history. Of the 151 passengers and crew on board, only 20 survived the shipwreck.
Many of the casualties were buried near Waipapa Point known as the Tararua Acre. Others were buried at this - Fortrose cemetery. This cache is near the memorial placed by children of the Fortrose and Districts Schools.
As a side note, this cemetery is also the resting place of my great grandparents, and a half dozen other family members
You're looking for a 200ml sistema container containing a Logbook, pencil, sharpener and a nano cache for someone to take and place somewhere.
It has been placed at ground level and is not visible at any distance. Please replace cover when you put it back. Watch your head!!!
