Sam “Golf Bag” Hunt Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

10%: I have gotten many complaints of my caches being too small for the area they are hidden in and also for the rating I have given them. Seems everyone has their own feelings towards what my caches should be. Therefore, to eliminate all the flack I get over my caches, I have decided to pull them all from the game.

I have spent the time and effort to research these gangsters in hopes that someone might learn of them from time past. I felt that this was an era that had its share of bad guys.

But I can no longer put up with the criticisms I always get of how I should do this or that with my cache hides so they are being pulled.

Thanks to all those who enjoyed doing this series.

Geocache Description:

The nickname “Golf Bag” certainly doesn’t instill fear, dread or even wonder, until you know the reason this mobster was given the name Golf Bag. Working for Capone as a mob enforcer (hit man), Sam Hunt would carry his weapons in his golf bag to hide them. If you saw Sam coming towards you with his golf bag slung on his shoulder and you weren’t teeing off on the green, you should probably be running the other direction.

Always beware of those ground critters that would like to bite you. This area is their home and not friendly in the summer time when they are out and about.

Since this area is hard to get around, it may be beneficial to use your tracking option in your gps to find your way back out. It will be a big area to walk or you can drive and walk (if you have clearance) but not only just drive to all these caches in the series. And using Google Earth will not be 100% beneficial either. The photos are very old and are not what they show. Things have grown considerably since the photos were taken. What looks like roads are now over grown. It will be a challenge to get around and find these caches and not everyone will conquer this challenge.

Even though all the caches in this series are film containers, they should be easy to find since all are either in a pile of rocks, duh, plenty of those around, or some other identifiable item to help locate them. Please do not make it hard for the next cacher by hiding it better than you found. Since it is out in the expanse, I do not want these to be any harder to find then they already are and I want everyone to find them that ventures out. The trick, is however, to get where the caches are.
