Forest Grove Arboretum Reprise Traditional Cache
dneuwir: Well, bummer! This cache was hidden under one of the small trail bridges and all the bridges have been removed. I have no idea if they're being replaced, but for now, I'm forced to archive this one. Thank you to all the cachers who've enjoyed their time here.

A relatively easy-to-find cache along a lovely neighborhood trail. There's plenty of easy and close parking in the lot.
It was March, 2010. I was told about this thing called "geeyo cashing" and it intrigued me. Amazingly enough, we discovered there was a cache hidden only three blocks from our house. So we decided to seek it out, just to find out what this whole game was about.
Now, at the time, I was using a somewhat flaky GPS program that managed to point me about a hundred feet off. But, I had my 9-year old son TJN2Cute with me, and we were with a friend (PotatoN) and his son and sure enough, about a half hour into looking for this thing (not knowing what we were even looking for having never previously found a cache) I hear a yell from the kids: "Is THIS what we're looking for?". And sure enough, our kids had found their first cache using only geosenses.
The cache was "Forest Grove Arboretum", GCWK62 and was placed by charliewhiskey. We were hooked.
Sadly, over time, the area that played host to the cache fell into disrepair and the cache was archived. Given that this beautiful area has become available I've decided to replace the cache (in a different location).
A tip of the hat goes to charliewhiskey who graciously has permitted me to copy some of her original cache listing:
This arboretum has examples of 7 different forest zones of Oregon, with 39 labeled trees. There are several benches and bridges along a wood-chip trail, and a covered pavilion with picnic tables. Please stay on the trails and out of the landscaping. The cache is not in the bushes.
The zones demonstrated are the forests of the coast, coast range, Willamette Valley, southwestern Oregon, Cascades, eastern Oregon, and wetlands. The Information Pavillion by the trailhead has pamphlets describing the different zones and the numbered trees. You can find several different pamphlets about choosing, planting, and caring for trees in the Forest Service building.
The cache container is a 2.3-liter Lock n' Lock, and should be a quick find. Park hours are dawn to dusk. Please stay on the wood-chip paths. Dogs must be on-leash (and obviously, please clean up after them). Every time I've been to this trail, I've found a stray bit of trash or a can or a bottle, so please help out and take a bit of trash with you when you leave. Let's each leave the Arboretum in better condition than when we arrived! Enjoy the hunt.
The initial contents of the cache are some glow-bracelets, a couple glow-sticks, a key-chain LED flashlight, a set of three tiny flower-pots so you can plant some of your own tiny green things, and some of my sig hematites.
CONGRATULATIONS to piiwackit for the First-To-Find honors, and in a great and touching twist, it is also piiwackit's first logged find so this is an extra-special FTF!
