Geocache Description:


Welcome to our first cache.
The cache is in a rest area on the Murray Valley Highway.
A good spot to drop off Travel Bugs or just swaps.

Major Mitchell camped here for 4 days 25th to 38th June 1836.

First settlement started in late 1860's ,known as Echunga.
A Hotel and Post Office opened in 1877.
Echunga became Weeweerup in 1879 as Echunga sounded to much like Echuca.
It became Wee Wee Rup in 1914.
Across the road is the site of the Hotel and Post Office'
there was also a Blacksmith, Mill and a School.
There was also a football team.

The cache is a 1lt sistema container with clip on lid it is painted black.
Cache contains log pencil swaps and 2 Travel Bugs.
There is also a scratchie for the first to find. Please take care of any geo-kids as
there is water close by.
