[ITA] Una cache per scoprire una delle più antiche chiese che si affacciano sul Lago Maggiore.
[ENG] A cache to discover one of the most ancient church looking to Lago Maggiore.

Belgirate è un piccolo comune di circa 540 abitanti che si affaccia sulle rive occidentali del Lago Maggiore. Anche se quasi sicuramente la parte più conosciuta di questo paese è quella che si vede mentre si percorre la strada statale del Sempione, il suo "cuore" antico si trova più in alto, proprio attorno alla Chiesa Vecchia.
Il centro medioevale agricolo di Belgirate ruotava attorno a questa piccola chiesa di epoca romana eretta intorno al XI secolo. Caratteristico è il campanile: molto stretto e allungato. All'interno della costruzione a navata unica è possibile ammirare degli affreschi originali mentre dallo spiazzo esterno si gode di una meravigliosa vista sia del Lago Maggiore sia della parte antica di Belgirate. Sempre all'interno della chiesa vengono organizzati dei concerti durante il corso dell'anno.

E' possibile lasciare l'auto in un piccolo piazzale antistante la chiesa (waypoint PK1), anche se noi consigliamo di usare l'altro parchegio segnato (PK2) che vi farà scoprire una piccola parte delle strette strade medioevali ancora in uso.
Sempre da qui potrete scendere fin sulla riva del Lago Maggiore e rilassarvi seduti su qualche panchina in prossimita del waypoint WND. Sempre qui, durante l'estate, è possibile accedere all'acqua per farsi una bella nuotata o per praticare il windsurf (che affittano sul posto).

Secondo noi questa è una cache da "gustarsi" con calma, soprattutto se il tempo è bello!

Belgirate is a small town of about 540 inhabitants located on the western side of Lago Maggiore.
The ancient heart of this town is represented by the Old Church: an old roman-style construction built in the 11th century with its characteristic belltower which is tall and thin. Inside you can find original paintings; instead, from the outside, you can have a marvelous lookout of the Lago Maggiore and of the oldest part of Belgirate. Sometimes inside the Old Church are organized concerts.

You can leave your car just in front of the Old Church (waypoint PK1), even if we suggest you to leave it in the other parking spot (PK2) which will make you discover a little part of the Belgirate narrow and ancient streets still in use.
From here you can descent to the Lago Maggiore lakeside too, relaxing on some benches around waypoint WND. Moreover in this spot you can have a swin in the lake or rent a windsurf in the nearby windsurf school.

In our opinion this is a cache to "taste" slowly, especially if the weather is good!
