I like puzzles..... When I first spyed this Church I noted that it had no markings on it. It is now Studio's and offices. I thought at first it was St Pauls Church Camden Square.....I was wrong. The only clue is a corner stone stating it was laid in 1869 by The Duke of Argyle. The Rev William Dinwiddle was the pastor. I discovered that this is a Disused Presbyterian Chapel. George John Douglas Campbell, 8th Duke of Argyll KG, KT, PC, FRS, FRSE (30 April 1823 – 24 April 1900), styled Marquess of Lorne until 1847, was a Scottish peer, Liberal politician as well as a writer on science, religion, and the politics of the 19th century. In William Ewart Gladstone's first government of 1868 to 1874, Argyll became Secretary of State for India, in which role his refusal to promise support against the Russians to the Emir of Afghanistan helped lead to the Second Afghan War. Things Don't change! He was also involved in The American Civil War which is where he probably met Dinwiddle. In 1856 The Rev William Dinwiddie founded Brookland School in Greenwood, Virginia. William was a member of Lebanon and assured the students at Brookland received an education rooted in God’s word. Numerous men at Lebanon fought for Virginia and the Confederacy. Some of these men were Rev. William Dinwiddie, James Iverson Critzer, George Pilson Wallace, Martin Schultz, and John Thomas Wharton. I still have no idea what the name of this church is but maybe you can work it out? ************Congratulations to ChickenAndMushroom for FTF*************
