Geocache Description:

Cache is hidden near the subsiding observation point in Hachioji Tokyo.
Cache is a hand-made nano container (since 2011/12/30).
Please bring a pen.

Subsiding.
It is a phenomenon of the ground's sinking.
It causes the distortion of the building and the destruction of the water service tube, etc.
This is a serious problem of the metropolitan environment because it is difficult to return the height of surface if once subsiding is happen.

Following is the one of process of subsiding.
Pumping up the underground water reduce the water level and pressure.
And the building on the surface press the ground, so the volume of the ground is compressed.

The ground and the groundwater level change situation are observed near cache location.
It is one of 42 subsidence observation points in Tokyo.

Car parking is very few around here, but there is a bus stop in front of observation point.
The bus comes to this bus stop named "Ishikawa iriguchi" (means "Ishikawa entrance") from Hachioji station.

地盤沈下はご存知ですよね？

地盤が沈んでいく現象の事で、建物のひずみや水道管の破壊などを引き起こす原因となります。
一度沈下すると元の高さに戻す事は困難なため、都市環境における深刻な問題です．
発生要因は様々ですが、地下水のくみ上げによる水圧の低下と、建造物などによる地表からの重みによって地盤の体積が減り、地盤が圧縮されて沈下する事例が有名です．

キャッシュがおかれている場所はこの地盤沈下の進行状況を調査するために設置された地盤沈下観測所です。
東京都には全部で４２カ所の観測所があり、この場所はそのうちの一つです。
ここでは地盤と地下水位変動状況の観測が行われています．

キャッシュの場所の周辺に車をとめる場所が有りませんが、目の前がバス停になってます。
八王子駅から出ている西東京バスの「石川入口」が最寄りのバス停です。

キャッシュはナノサイズです（前のはロストしたのでナノコンテナに変更しました。2011/12/30〜）
ペンは入っていないので筆記用具を持ってきてください．
