Glade-Dobbins Cemetery Traditional Cache

This cache is not located inside the cemetery but near an access road that is on private property.

While roaming some country roads just outside of Greenwood, I came upon a historical marker for the Glade-Dobbins Cemetery. In 1832 some of the local folk began using this land for family burials. In 1851, the property owner conveyed the land to 3 ministers who became the first Trustees for Glade-Dobbins Cemetery which continued to be used by local communities. It is currently maintained by volunteers.

Note: If you are interested in visiting the cemetery,  I found an article in a local newspaper (the Daily Journal) announcing that the Cemetery Association would be hosting an Open House on September 17, 2011 from 4pm to 7pm to allow interested parties to visit the cemetery and look for gravesties of their ancestors. A large parking area has been cleared near the cemetery.

Please use care in parking. I found it easier to pull off across the road from the marker. This road is part of a school bus route so be extra careful on school days.
