I'm a fun cache hidden close to the summit of Tungsten Mountain, Elevation 8,930. You'll have a fairly easy hike to reach me, and if there's no snow on the ground you should have no difficulty in finding my container and the cache log you're eager to sign.
Even though I'm only Tungsten, instead of Gold or Platinum, I'm much more precious than you might think. Tungsten's made of pretty special stuff! I've got the highest melting point and lowest vapor pressure of all the metals, and at high temperatures I possess the highest tensile strength of the metals and have outstanding resistance to corrosion. So I'm perfect to be the filament of incandescent bulbs. I'm all over the place in these bulbs, and I light the world.
My hardness and high density also make me in special demand for specialized military applications, particularly in penetrating projectiles. So I'm strategically important, even though I lack the pizazz of Gold or Platinum or Silver! Now here's something for you to contemplate: you need me for some pretty critical things, but more than 75% of my total production comes from China. I hope that I'll continue to be readily available at a reasonable cost in decades ahead, so I can continue lighting up your individual worlds.
