UF Geodetic Grid Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Arni&Maria: Too bad. It seems the cache is not save in its hideout. We therefore decided to archive this listing. Thanks for everyone who (tried to) solve(d) this puzzle and searched for the cache and also for the favorite points.
And a very special thank to AMTG for her kind support and the many nice notes she wrote. We hope to meet you again one day.

Geocache Description:

This cache is a “Thank You and Good Bye” to the local caching community for placing so many caches. You made my weekends being short adventures.
But with this cache I also want to encourage you to place some more nice mystery and multi caches.

The cache is not hidden at the given coordinates, but you will need these coodinates to solve the puzzle.

All stages can (and should) be solved at home.

For this cache, we have invented a new coordinate system, called the UF Geodetic Grid (UFGG). This grid is designed like the UTM system but contains only one zone: the whole UF campus. Reference point number one (Ref1) lies at the given coordinates and defines zero on both axes. From here you can see the Century Tower. This is going to be reference point number two (Ref2).
The bearing from Ref1 to Ref2 defines 0 UF-Degrees (UF-Deg). One full circle has 1000 UF-Deg.
The distance between Ref1 and Ref2 is 1 kUF-Distance (UF-Dist).

Century Tower seen from close to Ref1

This is all we need. Knowing this we can give any point on campus in UFGG-Coodinates!

Your first task is to find this virtual point:

UFGG -96.8 -27.6

From here, the final can be found in a distance of
1617 UF-Dist and a bearing of 786.4 UF-Deg

The First to Find may take the tape measure as a FTF-Gift.

Have fun!

Thanks a lot to AMTG who agreed to take care of the maintenance at the actual cache location.
