Raven - equal parts curious and mysterious - and a consummate survivor in the North Woods. What better creature as a totem for geocachers? Next time you're out caching around Anchorage, notice the ravens - they're watching...

Visit the BLM Campbell Tract and enjoy outdoor recreation opportunities on twelve miles of trails laced across 730 acres of diverse habitats. Exercise care and caution on the trails, as bear and moose frequent the wildlands here.

The BLM Campbell Creek Science Center (CSC) is an outdoor science education center for people of all ages that encourages interest and participation in the balanced management of natural resources. Other BLM activities on the Tract include offices, a warehouse, communication sites, and an active airstrip and heliport. The unpaved airstrip is used for various state and federal purposes, and provides an emergency runway for the region in the event of earthquake. The airstrip is off limits to recreational users, and there are plenty of signs to keep you on the trails and out of trouble.

Dogs must be leashed during visits, and during winter months special care must be taken to ensure hikers don't walk on dedicated dog mushing and skier-only trails. Those trails are well-marked at intersections and trailheads. Geocachers must avoid trespassing on those dedicated pathways for everyones' safety, and to protect our privilege to geocache on the Tract.

This is an easy cache - an ammocan cabled to a spruce tree trunk. It's in almost plain sight from the multi-use trail just northwest of the parking lot. Don't climb the snow berm - use the trail - just stay off the nearby clearly-marked mushing trail!
