The Sarushima (monkey island) is the only desert island in Tokyo bay. It's named after an episode that Nichiren, a famous priest lost his way on the sea around there, a white monkey appeared and guided his ship to the island.
Circa 18c the island is regarded as a important point of protection of Edo (Tokyo), and around WW I & II the Japan Force built fortress on it. Still there're some relics of the fotress.
Now we can enjoy swimming in Summer, fishing & BBQ on the beach. Ships from Mikasa memorial park is available; 9:00 - 16:30, everyday in summer season, Sat & Sun on winter season; check the ship company's page for detail.

キャッシュは猿島に隠されています。
猿島は、東京湾唯一の無人島です。かつて日蓮がこの付近の海上で迷ったとき、白い猿が現れてこの島に船を先導したという伝説が、島の名前の由来です。18世紀には江戸の守りの要所として、また第一次・第二次世界大戦時には要塞が建築され、いまでも残っています。
夏には美しい海で海水浴を楽しむことができ、またバーベキューや釣りも楽しめます。三笠記念公園からの船が9:00～16:00 (下記は毎日、冬期は土日) に出航しています。詳細は 船会社のページ をご覧ください。
