Geocache Description:

The Welsh "Dduw Cariad Yw", translates into English as "God is Love" and is carved in the rocks here.

Caer Rocks is a stony outcrop above the village of Llanharan offering wonderful views of the land below. A popular walking destination and well known to long term inhabitants it is still a regular constitutional walk for many locals.

During the religious revival in South Wales in the very early part of the 20th century, one zealous lay preacher from nearby Tonyrefail is said to have visited the site one day and carved the words "Dduw Cariad Yw" into the rockface.

Although this tale may be apocryphal, is it known that a Llanharan resident took many days to carve the English translation "God Is Love" into a neighbouring rock in November 1932.

The rocks are plastered with carved inscriptions with many people who have visited the site adding to the personalisation of this natural feature.

The quickest direct route to Caer Rocks is to follow the footpath from Llanharan up to Mynydd Meiros or to continue Westwards after exiting Garth Maelog forestry.

When this cache was placed, we actually walked Eastwards from the Wind Turbines some 2 or so miles away.

The paths can get muddy at times so adequate footwear is required.

You are looking for a 0.25 litre kliplock box hidden under stones containing swaps and a FTF certificate.

Congratulations to Sir Edmund & Preseli for claiming joint FTF honours! :-)
