Earthcache Lößablagerungen in Dossenheim

Der Löß (von alemannisch lösch = locker) ist ein zerreibliches, mehlartiges, ungeschichtetes Sediment, das durch Wind transportiert und abgelagert wird. Es ist von ockergelber bis gelbgrauer Farbe.
Löß kommt in Deutschland in Norddeutschland, an den Lee-Hängen der Mittelgebirge, im Oberrheingraben (v.a. am Kaiserstuhl), im Alpenvorland, um Straubing, um Würzburg und im unterbayerischen Hügelland vor. Große Lößvorkommen gibt es in China.
Löß ist ein Lockergestein. Es hat sich während der letzten Eiszeit (Pleistozän) als Flugstaub abgelagert. Am Rand der Rheinebene entstand so eine mächtige Lößschicht. Sie begünstigte die Bildung steilwandiger Hohlwege.

1. Informiere dich über die Entstehung von Löß. Die Information ist nicht vor Ort vorhanden. Beschreibe sie kurz mit deinen eigenen Worten.
2. Welche Höhe erreichen Lößschichten ist Europa stellenweise? Welche Lössmächtigkeiten sind darüber hinaus bekannt? Auch hier musst du dir eine Informationsquelle suchen.
3. Schätze die Höhe der Lößablagerung an den angegebenen Koordinaten.
Mache ein Foto von dir oder einem persönlichen Gegenständen an den Koordinaten oder in unmittelbarer Nähe des Eartcaches. Das Foto muss eindeutig ein eigenes und vor Ort aufgenommen worden sein. Dein Gesicht kann zu sehen sein, muss es aber nicht. Achte darauf, dass die Antworten nicht durch das Foto zu beantworten sind. Schreibe bitte keine Antworten in den Logeintrag.

Du kannst loggen sobald du die Antworten abgeschickt hast ohne auf eine Antwort zu warten. Falls damit etwas nicht stimmen sollte, melde ich mich bei dir. Logs ohne Beantwortung der Fragen werden gelöscht.

Earthcache Loess deposits in Dossenheim

The loess is a friable, mealy, unstratified sediment that is transported and deposited by wind. It is of ocher yellow to yellow gray color.
Loess in Germany occures in northern Germany, on the leeward slopes of low mountain ranges, in the Upper Rhine Valley (especially at the Kaiserstuhl), the foothills of the Alps, near Straubing and Würzburg and in Lower Bavaria. There are also major loess deposits in China.
Loess is a loose rock. It has been deposited as fly ash during the last ice age (Pleistocene). At the edge of the Rhine valley a thick layer of loess developed. This favored the formation of precipitous ravines.

Requirements for logging this Cache

Visit the Loess at the given coordinates. Please answer the following questions and write me the answer:
1. Describe the formation of loess in your own words.
2. What height does the loess layer reach in some places in Europe? Which loess layer are also known in the world? Look for a source of information. You will not find the information at the given coordinates.
3. Estimate the height of the loess deposit at the given coordinates.
Take a photo of yourself or a personal item at the coordinates or in the immediate neighborhood of the earth cache. The photo of your own must have been clearly recorded on site. Your face may or may not be visible. Make sure that the answers cannot be answered by the picture.
