Cachen ligger i Fotlandsvåg.
Som så mange andre steder på Vestlandet ble vassdrag lagt i rør på 1800 tallet, og på Osterøy ble Herlandsfoss Kraftverk bygget. Vannkraften la grunnlaget for industri og velstand i mangt et bygdesamfunn , og det vokste opp industri rundt kraftverket i Fotlandsvåg.
Carl J. Hambro, bestefar til den kjente stortingspresidenten med samme navn, ble industripioner på Osterøy. Han bygget huset som privatbolig mens han drev Fotlandsvåg Bomullspinneri. Han fant ikke lykken her, men Lyder Holm som overtok, ble millionær på bomullspinneriet i Fotlandsvåg.
Opp gjennom historien har FjordSlottet vært privatbolig både for kjente og mindre kjente familier. Og nå et hotell med sjel og historie.
Herlandsfoss Kraftverk som ligger innerst i dalen, ca. 1 km. fra hotellet, er i dag museum og kan besøkes. Men bomullsspinneriet som skapte industrieventyr i Fotlandsvåg, er forlengst borte.
Like so many other places on the western rivers were added in tubes in the 1800s, and was Osterøy Herland Kraftverk built. Hydropower laid the foundation for industry and prosperity of many a rural community, and industry grew up around the power plant in Fotlandsvåg. Carl J. Hambro, the grandfather of the famous white president of the same name, the industry pioneer in Osterøy. He built the house as a private residence while he drove Fotlandsvåg Bomullspinneri. He did not find happiness here, but sounds Holm who took over, the millionaire bomullspinneriet in Fotlandsvåg. Throughout history, FjordSlottet been a private residence for both famous and lesser-known families. And now a hotel with soul and history. Herland Fossil Power Plant, located deep in the valley, ca. 1 km. from the hotel, is now a museum and can be visited. But the cotton spinning industry that created the adventure Fotlandsvåg, are long gone.
