Geocache Description:

Choppard's Chase is a circular walk around a pretty little valley near Holmfirth. It takes in the hamlets of Longley, Choppards and Arrunden. The series includes 9 caches of varying sizes. Clues for the bonus cache are in the other caches.

The walk includes; narrow roads with no footpaths; woodland paths; and footpaths through farm land. Please observe the country code and wear appropriate footwear. If livestock are present, please supervise children and dogs well. Remember, this is the Holme Valley and valleys have steep sides!

Holme Styes reservoir is a popular place for walkers. The name 'sty' was a narrow way for people on foot or horseback and word remained in use into the 16th century at least. Holme Stye was probably the way to, or from, Holme originally, but gave rise to a settlement name by the 14th century.
