Geocache Description:

It is 5 August 2006 – A huge flood in Port Elizabeth. Lots of damage to infrastructure, roads, bridges that wash away and peoples lives lost. This has happened before in PE during the 1968 floods. After many months of investigations, designs and an agonizing wait on approval of the EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) the go ahead is given to construct a new roadway and bridge. Construction starts July 2009. On 1 June 2010 the bridge is opened to the public and by 31 August 2010 al work is complete. Bridge structure measures 33m and is 18m wide and 4 lanes with two abutment walls and two 800mm piers which is founded on 800mm diameter Auger drilled piles varying 5m–8m deep. There is associated road works on either side of the bridge and a new traffic circle. A long, but very worthwhile wait, for a new landmark in PE which is used daily.

The cache is a small pill container with only a log sheet and pencil.
The cache is placed near an open area where you can safely park to avoid the traffic. Stealth mode is required at all times to do this cache. There can be a lot of muggles in the area. Don’t do this one barefoot!
