This cache is a dedication to our dog Sammy.
Sammy was found abandoned as a young puppy with the rest of his
litter or four puppies in this woodland – sadly they had been
there for several hours and Sammy was the only survivor.
Our neighbour at the time worked for the local vet and hand
reared Sammy until he was thriving and ready for re-homing. During
this time unsuccessful efforts were made to trace his origin. We
had become regular visitors and had also stepped in to look after
Sammy so had grown quite attached to him, and quickly agreed that
we would adopt him.
Sammy grew to quite a determined character – always on the
go and ready for a game. He had boundless energy and we spent many
hours exercising him, where once he had picked up the scent of a
rabbit he would be off!!
We could search high and low for hours on end with no trace of
him however, we grew to learn that if we headed towards this GZ and
called there would eventually be a rustle in the undergrowth and he
would appear. In his later years rabbiting was largely replaced by
sleeping in front of the fire, or in the sun, however the twinkle
never left his eye when out for a walk.
Sadly Sammy is no longer with us – but his memory
remains.
This is a micro cache attached to something dog related. We hope
you enjoy the walk, Please bring your own pen.
Well Done cd-oracle FTF, could not have been
easy in the dark!!
