Geocache Description:

This multi-cache will send you on a tour to six City of Richland outdoor art pieces; go in order and you should be pretty close to the final at the last point. BYOP. Best by car or bike and plan for 30 min to 1 hour respectively.

The above location is at the first clue to the final. Richland has one of the largest collections of public art for a city of its size. Some of them are interactive, like this first piece. Go to all six locations and pick up the clue to find the final. The final will be at N46. 16.ABC, W 119. 16.DEF. Below are the locations in order and what to find there; then, at the bottom, is the equation to solve each location.

A) At the first location, count the number of bumps on the backbone of the species you are standing by. CemRock are the makers of this and you can go to their web page to see the many other items they have made. It is pretty amazing. There are actually several other pieces of art in this popular park and some other caches.

B) The 2nd location is at N 46. 16.526, W 119. 16.466. This is "Bodie" created by NW artist Tom McClelland out of Benton City. He has many pieces located throughout the Northwest. How many letters are in the name of the color of Bodie's bandanna? As you look at Bodie's eyes, behind him and across the street are about 3 more city art pieces, and there are about 3 caches close to here you can walk to.

C) N 46. 16.621 W 119. 16.760 You may notice this is not the only piece at this location, but it is the one I picked for the clue. In the piece you are looking at how many people are in picture? These were all done by various artists in 2004, just an odd bunch of pieces I think brighten up our little city. The answer is 12 people, this piece has been removed and I have to find another location.

D) N 46. 16.804 W 119. 16.706 This is a great outdoor sculpture by Gary Lee Price from Utah in an appropriate setting. It brings back memories of slower times in our lives. At this cache, count the number of letters in the title. You can get 2 other quick caches here in walking distance; one is in library that we adopted. The other is in the parking lot nearby. Inside the library you will see a large Minimalistic piece that makes up the wall by the first set of stairs in the library. Besides that, there are perhaps 12 other pieces in the library, from canvas to sculpture. You can also taste some locally made coffee in the lobby of the library here.

E) N 46. 17.185 W 119. 16.597, I dig this guy and you will respect him less when you count the number of teeth in his mouth for the clue at this location. Pay close attention! Max Turner is the artist and you can buy this piece at largeart.com where Max's stuff is for sale with lots of other artist. Max is from S. California and mostly retired now but still teaches children art.

F) N 46. 16.810 W 119. 17.141, This location will put you east of the art so look west on red wall to see it and count the pairs of hand rails you can use to get out of pool that do not go into the water... This is another Tom McClelland piece and represents Tom's overall work a little better than Bodie. It is abstract in nature and a somewhat famous piece that artists from all over respect. Monumental in its texture, various tones it reflects and large presentation it can be viewed from makes it a jewel and my favorite on this tour.
