Geocache Description:

Once upon a time, there was a little boy who was always telling lies and tall tales. He would tell the people in town all sorts of made up stories. At first, people would believe his stories, but after looking like fools one too many times, they all just tuned him out.

“Sure, Billy, the dam is about the burst…we’ll get right on it.” “What? The cows have jumped the fences and are getting away? Farmer Brown will take care of it.” The adults just humored the little boy and went on with their busy lives.

Until one day in spring.

The boy was out collecting firewood for his father, when he spotted a mean, hungry looking wolf, making its way down towards the town.

He dropped his bundle of wood, and raced down the hill to town. He met up with the mayor. “Mayor, there’s a big hungry wolf coming towards town!”

The mayor kept walking, saying “Sure Billy, I’ll get right on it!”

Not to be deterred, Billy stopped the next person he saw, the woodcutter. “Mr. Woodcutter, there’s a big hungry wolf coming towards town!”

“Right, Billy. I’ll get my axe and chop him to bits,” he said as he kept on his way.

Billy was getting annoyed, but of course he realized the error in his ways. But he kept on trying. Every person he saw he told “There’s a big hungry wolf coming towards town!”

And everyone merely said “Sure Billy, we’ll get right on it,” and they went about their daily routines.

Billy finally gave up, and sat under the big oak tree in the center of town, crying and sobbing his eyes out. “No one believes me that there’s a big mean hungry wolf coming in to town.”

“I believe you,” said a voice behind Billy. Billy quickly turned around, excited that someone actually believed him.

Unfortunately, it was the big mean hungry wolf, which quickly ate the little boy up, and headed back into the woods. Neither were seen again.

The moral of the story…even story tellers sometimes tell the truth.
