Geocache Description:

The cache is located a short drive down Chain Lakes Road, off Route 28. There is a small parking area beyond the cache site at a dam which will require a very short walk along the road back to the GZ.

Lake Abanakee is a beautiful 4 mile long, 1/2 mile wide lake formed in 1951 when an earthen dam was completed. The lake offers good fishing and is perfect for canoeing, kayacking and smaller boat activities. There are many lakes in this area, Indian Lake being the largest, and the surrounding area provides excellent hiking in Summer and snow-shoeing and snow mobiling in Winter.

The cache you seek is winter friendly and only about 30-40 feet from the road but snow shoes would help if the Winter snow is deep. The container is a larger camo'd pill bottle that contains a log, pen and room for a few small items.
