Geocache Description:

Normally in the cache description comes a load of history about the cache location. What I know about this place could cheerfully occupy one side of a fag packet. Suffice to say Welby Church is a very picturesque and tiny 12th century church located near Melton Mowbray. It’s in the middle of nowhere and quite bizarrely has no apparent purpose as there's no village to serve. I guess there was a Welby village in ancient times but it’s now gone. In days long gone it must have been an idyllic spot and if you turn your back to the local industry and general spoilage you could well believe this to still be the case.
The church does still hold services from time to time, though I can't imagine there'd be a huge congregation.
The cache is a short walk from the church and has a small pull-in next to it, it’s an easy park and grab. Once you have the cache in hand, go and visit the church just up the road.
There’s parking for one car in a gateway opposite the church.
If any cachers can piece together the history of this place, please do post it so I can expand the cache page. It’s also a perfect place to practice your photography skills, so please do take pics and post them, though neither are logging requirements.
