Nice drive along Hanging Rock Road.
It was once the Old Hume Highway before the freeway existed. Could have been part of the old Southern route also.
DO NOT TRY FOR IT FROM THE FREEWAY.
This log cabin and property; Known as "Berwick Orchard"was bought by my Grand parents back in the depression years (1929- 30) where they had most of there nine children (Teenages) there and my Mum being the youngest went to school from here taking the horse and dray with her other brothers and sisters to Wingello School, crossing the Paddy's river. Also had her courting days with my Dad in the 1942. They moved down from Arncliffe , Sydney to be self sufficiant with Apple, Necterines, plum etc trees and chooks and cows for milk, butter, and eggs.
They ran the "log Cabin" as a roadside store and stop for travellers for Tea, Coffee, apple pies, sandwichs and scones etc.
In later years we would have a nice drive from Moss Vale to visit our Grandfather on a Sunday.
We still have lots of memories when we drive this road.
The cache has the normal goodies inside. Please try and place it the way it should be.
