NOTE: York River State Park has a $5 parking fee. This cache will take you back in time to the colonial era. Wait a minute! I thought the Virginia colony started on the James River? It did, but it progressed over the years to tobacco plantations on the York River. The cache starts at the Visitor Center restrooms that leads you to a puzzle to solve! Instructions on how to solve the puzzle will be written out for you. If you have problems, a Park Ranger in the Park Office will assist you when the park's gift shop is open (usually 8am-4pm daily). The final cache is about 3/4 mile out; off trail near an 1817 foundation site. The final cache contains VSP collectible 75th & 80th anniversary cards.
This cache was part of the 2011 Virginia State Parks (VSP) Geocaching Adventure series. This series ended on December 31, 2011. However, the park has taken over this cache so it is still active. Special rewards are no longer available for this cache, only the cards. For upcoming information on the newest VSP Geocaching Adventure go to: www.virginiastateparks.gov.
