My grandpa, Gerald LaVet Erickson, was an architect in the area
around here. He, unfortunately, died when I was seven years old.
After getting into this whole Geocaching thing, I thought that it'd
be a lot of fun to put caches over near places he designed!
My grampa loved wildlife, and he never disturbed it when he was
designing his buildings. If he could keep a tree in place, he did.
Nowhere is this more evident than at West Valley College - where he
was part of the committee designing the layout and buildings of the
campus.
This cache is down the street from the campus, but why not go
over and take a look at the campus layout? I went there for a few
years, and always loved walking around. Once, I found a rabbit
while walking between classes. :)
Bonus points if you log your find with a story about your
grandparent included. Gold star if you find this cache with a
grandparent or grandchild.
Grampa Gerry Anecdote: Coat Check
After the wedding reception of a family friend, my grandfather
reportedly went to the coat-check counter and retrieved all of the
coats for the family. He tipped the girl at the coat-check counter
a hefty sum. "That," he said, "is for giving us much better coats
than the ones we came in with."
