Geocache Description:

This "pocket cache" is much, much bigger than the original cache that was here before. Still it does rate as a micro and can fit in your pocket. I really expect it to be a lot easier to find than the other cache. Maybe just a p&g. You be the judge.

In 1991, when George and I first met we went to a play behind the outlet mall in a small tent. They gave us popcorn. Not to eat, but to throw at the evil villain as we booed and hissed. It was a delightful experience. Later the volunteer group got to use some empty stores in the shopping center and began presenting quarterly plays. When they outgrew the little store they moved into a space below the skating rink on Higdon Ferry Rd. And yes, there were times you could hear the skaters upstairs.

The building here is the current home of the Pocket Theater. Once the Ramble Elementary School, this was the first school attended by President Bill Clinton. There are pictures in the lobby of him in his classrooms as a child.
The Pocket Theatre has grown from a tent to filling this building. From amateur comedy to presenting dramas, musicals, mysteries and suspense of professional quality. From quarterly plays presented by a small core of adult volunteers, to using adult and youth volunteers from all over Garland and surrounding counties. They have hosted other community theatre groups that have performed in Hot Springs. And they conduct a Children's Theatre Workshop each summer.

This community theatre group is a great treasure for Hot Springs. George and I have enjoyed watching them grow and we are very glad that they finally got a permanent home. It is so much better than a borrowed tent.
If you have never gone to a play at the Pocket Theatre you have missed a wonderful experience. The web site provided above will provide a more detailed history of the Pocket Theatre and information concerning scheduled plays and volunteer opportunities. Hopefully, you will have the opportunity return to this cache location many times in the future, just as we do.
