Geocache Description:

A short foray into the rougher part of common land embraced by a curve of the River Irwell. The paths nearby are usually very muddy and in summer there is lots of vegetation, some of it prickly - long trousers recommended!

This little common is sandwiched between the housing estates of Nuttall, Ramsbottom, and the River Irwell running through the attractive and dramatic Gollinrod Gorge. It's popular with dog walkers who can let poochy off the lead here for a run around, and has a good view of Peel Tower up on Holcombe Hill.

You can park on Waterside Road in Summerseat or you can approach from Nuttall Lane.

There are several other caches around, but please note that it is not possible to make a beeline from this cache to any of those in Gollinrod Gorge, as there are some steep crags in the way. Refer to GC295YJ for further details and waypoints.

The cache container contains an inner container to keep things watertight. It contains the log and a tiny pencil. There is room for micro coins or tiny swaps.
