Geocache Description:

The first in what I hope will be a series of caches dedicated to my all time favorite duo, Simon & Garfunkel. If you take time to read the description, you'll learn a little bit about these amazing guys, their sometimes rocky relationship and their own cache of chart topping music.Their lyrics are poetic, profound, sometimes fun and sometimes angry in a gentle way.

Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel grew up just blocks apart in the Forest Hills section of Queens, NY. They met in 1953 at elementary school when they appeared in a school play, "Alice in Wonderland". Paul played the White Rabbit, Art played the Cheshire Cat. They continued to be classmates through elementary, junior and senior high school. They began writing songs and performing together their Junior year in high school as "Tom and Jerry", In 1957 they made their first recording "Hey Schoolgirl". It sold 100,000 copies and made it to #49 on the Billboard charts and also led to an appearance on American Bandstand. BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER was the title song of Simon & Garfunkel's last album together. It was released January 26, 1970 and reached #1 on the Billboard Top 100 a month later and stayed there for six weeks. Album sales to date top the 25 million mark with a special anniversay edition scheduled for release in March, 2011. When you're weary, feeling small. When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all. I'm on your side when times get rough and friends just can't be found, Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down. When you're down and out, when you're on the street. When evening falls so hard, I will comfort you. I'll take your part when darkness comes and pain is all around. Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down. Sail on Silver girl, sail on by. Your time has come to shine, all your dreams are on their way. See how they shine! If you need a friend, I'm sailing right behind like a bridge over troubled water, I will ease your mind. Simply beautiful! NOTE: The original cache (GC2NG7N) went missing a few days after it was placed so I decided to archive it and pick another spot. CONGRATULATIONS TO GEOBEAVIS FOR FTF!!!
