Goodnow Mountain belongs to the State University of NY School of Forestry. The trail to the top is one of the widest and easiest in the Adirondacks.
There are benches along the way to rest and brochures available at the trail head explain natural features you see along the way.
There is a fire tower open to the public. In the tower hss a map and sighting arrow to help you identify the peaks you see. It is also the only mountain I know of with a well near the summit.
The cache was placed in anticipation of the 2011 Mid-Winter Geocaching Events in Long Lake.
