This is the final cache of the series we have placed around the Daneshill Lakes Nature Reserve area.
In each of the 5 "feeder" caches you will find a clue, which you will need to access this final cache. The first five can be done in any order and of course in isolation too as traditional caches.
Daneshill Lakes Local Nature Reserve was created in the mid-1980s from a collection of shallow gravel extraction pits as part of a major reclamation project by Nottinghamshire County Council. It is now managed by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust (NWT).
The Nature Reserve falls into two distinct parts, separated by Daneshill Road. To the south, leading off from the car park, is the more open and popular section, with benches and picnic tables, where sailors/windsurfers use the main lake and anglers sit patiently by the shore. Coots and moorhens can be seen among the reeds, and Canada geese, grebes and swans are a common sight. Across the road to the north is a more wooded and secluded area that is specially managed for wildlife.
All caches in our series have been placed outside the Nature Reserve boundaries.
Once you've collected the clues from the other 5 caches you need to convert them into numbers. Should be easy if you know your Magpie children's rhyme!
You will need to use these numbers in two ways.
The coordinates given for this cache are NOT the location of the cache. They are for the Daneshill Lakes Car Park.
Substitute the numbers you deduce from the 5 clues as follows to find the location of the cache:-
Swan answer = A
Magpie answer = B
Wren answer = C
Grebe answer = D
Woodpecker answer = E
N A(B+C) degrees CC.304 MinDec
W 00(B) degrees 00.B(D-5)E MinDec
or
British Grid
SK66(D-4)(A+2)6 D6(C+3)(E-3)(B+1)
Once you find the cache you will need the 5 numbers again to gain access.
We really enjoyed setting this series - hope you enjoy finding them.
Cache contains log book, pencil and room for a few swaps.
