January 10th, 2014 marks 10 years since the placement of the very first EarthCache, on a headland 3 hrs south of Sydney, Australia by Geoaware and his two daughters.
10 Years of EarthCaching 10 years later, there are 17,558 EarthCaches placed around the world helping geocachers better understand the planet and the processes that form and shape it.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of EarthCaching, let's get together and chat about the cache type which requires some hard work, but gives us the opportunity to learn about our earth.
Experienced earthcachers: Share your stories of your favourite earthcaches.
No earthcache finds yet? We'll talk about earthcaching in general and try to answer any questions you may have. As this is an evening event, we would like to head out to the closest Earthcache - GC3XKER (Jeremiah's Pan) BEFORE the start of the Event. We'll post details of this closer to the date - let us know in your log if you are keen to join us.
.
If you have already done this earthcache, you can head on straight to the venue for a cold or hot one, or just a chat.
