Geocache Description:

This cache is not at the posted coordinates! These coordinates are the starting coordinates.

This is a fairly easy three stage Multi-cache. The stages are close enough to walk them. I enjoyed the walk to hide it too.

This multi is a nice little local history lesson while waiting for a friend in an important meeting. Parking is near Stage 1 and the others are close enough to walk. You can find the answers at both Stage 1 and Stage 2.

~~~~~~~~
Answer the following questions:
1. How old was Captain Vancouver when he sailed up the Pacific coastline?
2. What year did he die?
3. How many years later did John McLoughlin and George Simpson journal and map the area?
4. How many miles did Lt. Broughton travel up the Columbia?
5. What year was the monument placed?
Checksum for the North coordinates answer total is 21.
Add the first four answers and the first two digits from answer 5 together and add them to the following dummy coordinates: N 45 35.389
1. What year did Captain Vancouver sail up the coastline and discover the area?
2. How old was he when he died?
3. What year did McLoughlin and Simpson journal and map the area?
4. What was the length of the long boat that Lt. Broughton travelled up the Columbia River in?
5. What year was the monument placed?
Checksum for the West coordinates answer total is 19.
Add the first four answers and the last two digits from answer 5 together and add them to the following dummy coordinates: W 122 36.646
~~~~~~~~

The second stage location is on flat, level ground. Look around for a four-pointed navigational star. Near that star you will see a five digit number. For North, find that number and multiply by 0.00001 to equal .ABC.

Checksum for this number is 9.

Next, look on the same page with the navigational star and look for direct transportation method for people to be able to get from Padden Parkway to Battle Ground? For West, on map, find the number and multiply by 0.001 to equal .DEF.

Checksum for this number is 8.

Solution for Final Coords: Take North Dummy Coords: N 45 36.612
and then add .ABC.

Solution for Final Coords: Take West Dummy Coords: W 122 39.709
and then add .DEF.

This calculation equals the coordinates for the final stage.
