Geocache Description:

Douglaston is a very nice neighborhood. This series is a great walk all year round for caching as there are other caches nearby. Park on the side streets, if you drive. This is a park n' grab. BYOP. You do not need to go into the cemetery. However, it is open to the public. See the web site for points of interest. Native Americans, Civil War veterans and early Long Island settlers are resting here.

Zion Episcopal Church is nestled at the end of a driveway in a tranquil spot off busy Northern Boulevard. The house of worship, which was created in 1829, suffered a devastating fire in 1924 and reopened at its current site one year later following renovation. The building also provides worship space for the Great Commission Church, which offers services in Korean. Zion Episcopal is surrounded by trees and a cemetery where early settlers and Civil War veterans of Douglaston and Little Neck are buried. The church also provides space for a variety of activities, such as Gamblers Anonymous, weekend theater shows, violin classes and yoga.
