Geocache Description:

Welcome to our second cache within Dunvant Brickworks which we hope you will enjoy as much as we did placing it. It's a two part multi cache with the co-ordinates given for the first part where you will discover the co-ordinates for the final cache (nearby) together with a tool you will need to help you collect it. Once you have retrieved the final cache, please remember to return the tool to its home and replace the cover on the final cache carefully.

This cache is ideally combined with GC1BKA (visit link) and the orienteering map available for online download here (visit link) may assist you in locating the cache area. Whilst there are no marked paths on the maps, there is a small track to the south of the largest lake which is used by a few local dog walkers. Please be aware of a steep bank on one side, particularly if attempting this in the dark.

Recommended free car parking can be found immediately adjacent to Clyne Valley Cycle Track behind the children’s play area at Dunvant Square. For those visiting this cache only, the nearest parking place would be in or near Bro Dirion off Derlwyn (please do not obstruct driveways). There is a path leading to Highland Terrace at the bottom of the cul-de-sac. Please DO NOT DRIVE INTO HIGHLAND TERRACE which is an unmade single track road leading to a few isolated properties. There is also no access to the cache area from Yr Aran or Maes-yr-Efail.
In periods of wet weather boots are advisable.

Dunvant started out as a small village based around the coal industry. The area between Dunvant and Gowerton was once quite heavily industrialised. However, the collieries, brickworks and railways are all now long gone, leaving behind little of evidence of their existence.

The first stage is a small box in a camo bag hidden by sticks at the foot of a tree. The final stage is on the end of an earthbank nearby with several fallen tree branches laid around it to act as a deterrent to walkers after it was muggled. The cache area is a peaceful spot overlooking the lake.

Enjoy..
